Jonathan Sugarman, former President and Chief Executive Officer of Qualis Health, now Comagine Health, passed away on May 1, 2023, during an expedition climbing Mt. Everest.
Dr. Sugarman served as Qualis Health’s president and CEO for nearly 20 years and devoted his career to improving health care. He led Qualis Health to a position as a national leader in population health. Dr. Sugarman’s leadership was grounded in his exemplary skills as a clinician and researcher, balanced with his humanity and compassion as a public health expert. He was at the helm of several initiatives that impacted the lives of thousands of people, including efforts to improve primary care, long-term care and the management of chronic disease.
Dr. Sugarman had long-standing relationships with staff and many community partners and will be missed deeply. We honor his legacy as a devoted public health leader striving to improve the health and well-being of people across the U.S. and around the globe. We extend our condolences to his family and loved ones.
