Letters and Postcards Aim to Educate on Importance of Boosters for Nursing Home Residents

To combat low uptake of the bivalent COVID booster among nursing home residents, Comagine Health has created a communications kit that contains messaging and collateral aimed at family members of people in long-term care facilities and those who may be entering centers following hospital discharge.

As the QIN-QIO for Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Washington, we are tasked with improving the quality of care delivered to those on Medicare, including nursing home residents. Skipping the latest booster leaves an already vulnerable population at an even higher risk for serious illness, hospitalization and death. We ask that you use these talking points and materials to educate nursing home residents and their family members about the importance of staying up to date.

We have developed a letter from Comagine Health Clinical Director Thuan Ong, MD, that can be sent to family members as well as an unbranded template version of the letter to allow your nursing facility or hospital to customize. Also available are two versions of a postcard – one for nursing home resident family members and another for patients leaving the hospital and entering a nursing facility.

We encourage you to print as is or add your logo, and mail or distribute using your preferred method, including via the post office, packaged with other documents already being sent to family members or inserted into hospital discharge packets. Comagine Health may be able to provide printed copies upon request. For more information, contact Shannon Finegood, patient safety manager.
