Looking Beyond COVID-19 Series: Detecting Change in Resident Condition and the Impact of Staff Resiliency

Fri, 3/12/2021 at 11:00 am - Fri, 3/12/2021 at 11:50 am (PDT)

Session No. 1: Recognizing Baseline and Knowing Your Residents

Please join Comagine Health for a six-part series to learn about the many nuances related to early detection of and intervention for changes in resident condition.  Developing the skills of clinical and non-clinical staff in the science of early detection of change in condition and communication can have significant positive impacts on patient safety and well-being.  Timely interventions may prevent complications and significantly reduce transfers to the ER or hospital.

However, early detection and timely interventions cannot be accomplished when staff is burned out. We believe it is essential to prioritize and continue efforts for patient safety, but we also recognize the challenges for your employees due to COVID-19, staffing shortages and increased stressors.  We will also be discussing staff resiliency and burnout, and their impact on patient care while providing tips and best practices.

Audience: Open to long-term post-acute care facility staff and corporate leaders

Session format:  The format of our 50-minute sessions will be one-third training and two-thirds sharing with peers, asking questions and planning next steps.  Each month for the next six months, we will highlight a specific aspect of this important, multi-faceted intervention that you can bring back to your staff to strengthen skills in this area. It is our hope that you can join all sessions, but because we know that may be difficult at this time, each session will stand alone.  After each session, we will post the tools and resources discussed in the Comagine Health newsletter.  Come prepared to learn, share and ask questions.
