According to an Office of Inspector General (OIG) report, more than one-third of Medicare beneficiaries experienced some form of adverse event or temporary harm during a skilled nursing facility stay. Nearly 60% of these events were likely preventable and over half of the residents experiencing harm returned to a hospital for treatment as a result. Join Jennifer Pettis for the second segment of a two-part series on adverse events. In Part 2, Ms. Pettis will discuss tools for examining facility protocols and investigating adverse events as well as evidence-based prevention practices.
