In 2020, our Half-Hour Hot Topics webinar series will explore Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) priority areas, such as improving behavioral health and resident safety; reducing readmissions, opioid misuse and adverse drug events; infection prevention; antibiotic stewardship; and more! Give us 30 minutes and we’ll give you new ideas!
According to an Office of Inspector General (OIG) report, more than one-third of Medicare beneficiaries experienced some form of adverse event or temporary harm during a skilled nursing facility stay. Nearly 60% of these events were likely preventable and over half of the residents experiencing harm returned to a hospital for treatment as a result. Join Jennifer Pettis for the second segment of a two-part series on adverse events. In Part 2, Ms. Pettis will discuss tools for examining facility protocols and investigating adverse events as well as evidence-based prevention practices.
