Cultural Day

This year’s Cultural Day spotlights Calricaraq, a culture based system of care that uses Yup’ik teachings, values and traditions to address behavioral health issues. The Calricaraq program is holistic, healing individuals and restoring communities.

The Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation established Calricaraq as its behavioral health prevention service in 2011. In 2016, the program received the Honoring Nations Awards from Harvard’s Kennedy School.

YKHC staff members who developed and currently deliver Calricaraq will share their knowledge and experiences with us.
