The Desert Meadows AHEC student ambassador program is new for Fall 2021. The goal of this program is to provide an opportunity for undergraduate students to begin building their careers through diverse educational and professional experiences. The Student Ambassador program will allow you to engage in opportunities that includes:
- Community Outreach
- Collaborative Community Efforts
- Health Education
Through a variety of community partners, Desert Meadows AHEC will offer innovative opportunities that support and encourage community development for our student ambassadors. You will gain public health and nonprofit experience, team building, leadership development, teaching experience and curriculum design, program management, and access to professional development and healthcare workforce engagement events.
Involvement with this program will present you with the opportunity to build their resumes, network with local professionals, engage with rural and under-served communities, and embark on a professional journey that will enhance their learning experiences.
Students will focus on six core competencies including: inter-professional education, behavioral health integration, social determinates of health, cultural competency, practice transformation, and current and emergent issues.
